Off into the wilds we go! We love scenic drives, so this Labor Day we took a trek up into the mountains. The back way to Nederland, in fact! On the way we found this beautiful campground just STUFFED with aspens!
We're going to have to come back here and camp, seriously. But for now, we just stopped for a picnic. Geologist style.
The boys collected puffball 'shrooms while Daddy (the Geologist) heated up the grill...
Mmm, I swear, he makes just about the BEST burgers! We tried something from our butcher called "bacon burger". Yup, there is bacon ground up in that burger!! The verdict?? Eh. Bacon needs crisping. In the burger, uncrisped, it just made it salty and mushy. I bet I know a few people who would have loved it anyway...
And of course, had to stop off at our favorite lake. Bracken BADLY needed a swim, poor girl, it's been so hot that she hasn't gotten much exercise! She just gets hot too fast!
